I try to see a decent amount of live music and thankfully San Francisco has a pretty decent scene spanning lots of different genres. Last Thursday I took the short trip from the Elepath studio to Bottom Of The Hill (a divey venue in the Dog Patch) to see 65daysofstatic, Caspian and The World is a Beautiful Place & I am No Longer Afraid to Die (Yes, a real band name).
I've been a big fan of 65daysofstatic and Caspian for long time and was really happy to see them on the same bill. I'd seen 65 play before and thought the other bands would not stand a chance of entertaining me more than those guys would.
I was wrong.
Caspian is single handedly the biggest post-rock band I've ever seen and I was in awe every second they played.
These two fellas came with me to the show. It was a 3 way man date.
They played a healthy mix of new and old tracks and more notably some incredible material from my favorite album 'Tertia'.
I'm a terrible low light photographer, like really bad. That being said there is something about these shots that fits the aesthetics of Caspian's jams. Give any album a listen and you will see what I mean.
What are these photos about?
