I was very excited to get an invite to a wonderful preview of Souvla’s brunch menu this past weekend. It was a small and well organized get together of press, bloggers and super fans to get an early taste of the menu that launches this coming weekend (November 14th).
Souvla is a pretty new addition to Hayes Valley hood of San Francisco and I think i’ve eaten there at least 8 millions times since it opened. It’s easily the most well executed eating experience I’ve had. Their consistency to be fast, delicious and charming is almost painful. But what is Souvla you say…
Souvla is a Greek sandwich shop in the heart of San Francisco’s Hayes Valley, inspired by the casual neighborhood souvlaki joints found throughout Greece. (The word “souvla” means “spit” or “skewer” in Greek — the rod on which meat is roasted.)
Pictured below: Brunch punch….brunch….punch!
Or a “foodie” and I’m not going to try and describe the nuances of everything we tasted, I will go as far to say that it’s a super solid menu and fucking delicious from end to end. Just go next weekend and go hungry.

It’s worth noting just how well done the entire restaurant’s space is. Well lit and really lovely little touches all over the place. Good light is really great…when you want to Instagram your food.
An interesting nugget of info is that Souvla took 5 years from conception to launch. It really shows how thoughtful they were about every aspect.
Thanks again to the whole Souvla team for the invite to come and take some photos, fill my face and hang out with some fine people. I’m excited to drag everyone I can to experience the new menu.
A nice touch was the fact they set up the whole menu on a counter at the end of the event so everyone could take photos without having to let their food get cold.
