Jarod had recently bought a “surf truck” in the form of a Jeep Comanche. I had wanted a ride in it since he got it on the road and this past Sunday was my time to sit in the truck.
After deciding against going to watch Tom Cruise kill aliens over and over again in Edge Of Tomorrow we thought a trip to the recently opened Devil’s Slide coastal trail was a much better idea.
I had no idea this awesome new trail even existed and even better was the fact it was only a 35 minute drive from San Francisco straight down Highway 1 (formally Route 1).
Not the most awful of drives for a Sunday Afternoon.
It’s great to see a bad situation such as a highway falling into the Pacific ocean turned into such a genuinely unique and awesome trail. Here is a little more about it’s opening from the Parks Dept.
“Devil‘s Slide Trail opened on March 27th, 2014. The project involved the conversion of the segment of Highway 1 south of the City of Pacifica, which was closed after the opening of the Devil’s Slide Bypass Tunnels, into a public multi-use non-motorized trail. The project included roadway surfacing, signage, accessibility improvements, habitat protection, and overlooks.”

These plants were just as odd to touch as they were to look at.
“We should bring out skateboards next time”
— Honestly, the road was perfect.
Heading back to San Francisco was a white out thanks to the fog heading forwards the city but we did get back in time for a straight street shot i’ve been meaning to take forever.
